VP of Engineering

Reports to: CEO

About the Company

We are an early-stage property tech SaaS company on a mission to modernize self-storage operations. With real customers, fast-growing traction, and a platform at the crossroads of automation, visibility, and operational excellence, we are building with purpose and momentum. At just 18 months in, we’re scaling rapidly and thoughtfully.

The Role

We are seeking a hands-on VP of Engineering to define and lead our engineering strategy while actively contributing across our product stack. This is a true player/coach role, where you'll be splitting your time between shaping the technical direction and actively writing and reviewing code. You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability of our applications and in managing a small, capable offshore development team.

This role reports directly to the CEO and will collaborate across departments to transform product vision into scalable technology.

What You’ll Do

Architect & Execute: Guide the evolution of our web and mobile platform’s architecture and frameworks.
Lead Engineering Operations: Own software delivery, QA, and infrastructure practices with a focus on reliability, performance, and security.
Contribute to Code: Stay hands-on with the codebase — lead by example with feature development, code reviews, and hands-on problem-solving.
Manage a Lean Team: Direct a small offshore engineering team (currently 3), driving execution, performance, and accountability.
Scale Thoughtfully: Develop and refine engineering processes, tools, and team culture to support growth.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, design, and operations teams to align roadmap and releases.
Ensure Platform Stability: Own system uptime, incident response, and the overall health of applications across environments.

Our Tech Stack

You’ll help maintain and scale our platform across the following:

Frontend: React.js, Next.js, React Native
Backend: Node.js, Ruby on Rails, Python
Infrastructure: AWS (ECS, S3, RDS, Lambda, etc.)
Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, AWS DocumentDB
Messaging & Email: Twilio, SendGrid
DevOps & Repositories: GitHub, CI/CD Pipelines
