The Role
The Head of Data and AI will lead a ~25-person function to maximize value from our immense telematics and insurance loss datasets. This role will also define our data strategy, lead the application of AI, and contribute to company strategy as a core member of Quanata’s leadership team. Scope of this function includes:
Data Science: building sophisticated predictive models
Data Analytics: generating insights and measuring success
Data Engineering: productizing our models and providing a platform for rapid iteration
Your day-to-day
Provide people leadership for the Data organization, including org design, leadership development, talent acquisition & retention, etc.
Define and champion Quanata’s data strategy and overall data architecture to best leverage immense amounts of telematics and insurance data
Lead the team to define and prioritize modeling and platform work, balancing production implementation with continued innovation through R&D
Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Program Mgmt to incorporate data solutions as part of cross-functional delivery teams
Ensure all use of data meets security and compliance requirements, working closely with our Security & Governance teams
Identify opportunities to leverage AI in our solutions and drive implementation
Represent our data & AI capabilities to external clients / prospects
About You
Proven success leading data functions across Data Science, Analytics, and Engineering
Extensive hands-on experience building predictive models and implementing them into products
Deep expertise in telematics data, similar IoT data, or insurance data
Experience with B2B client delivery of data science model-powered services
Experience working in a regulated industry, insurance or financial services
Strong people-focused leadership, with a track record of employee development and engagement
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience applying cutting-edge AI solutions, in the context of prediction and other domains, is a plus

Hours: We maintain core meeting hours from 9AM - 3PM Pacific time for collaborating with team members across all time zones.
