Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and driven Engineering Manager to lead our talented team of software engineers. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of software applications that align with business objectives and deliver exceptional user experiences. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure solutions. As a leader, you will empower your team to continuously improve while balancing performance, innovation, and business impact.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a team of 4 to 8 Software Engineers, fostering their professional growth and development
Provide guidance and support to help team members enhance their technical and interpersonal skills
Develop and manage comprehensive project plans for epics, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
Stay connected to the team’s workflows by maintaining a deep understanding of engineering practices and processes
Conduct managerial interviews to identify and recruit top talent
Cultivate a culture of psychological safety, encouraging open communication and innovation
Identify opportunities for process improvement and drive the implementation of impactful changes
Hold regular one-on-one meetings with team members to provide support and ensure alignment
Deliver constructive, actionable, and timely feedback to team members
Empower the team to make informed technical decisions while providing decisive leadership when needed
Define and track quarterly Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to ensure focus and accountability
Champion initiatives to improve the quality, security, and performance of the product



Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
5 to 7 years of professional software development experience or management
Proven ability to foster collaboration and achieve consensus across departments and stakeholders

Demonstrated progressive leadership experience, paired with a strong foundation of current, hands-on technical expertise
Deep technical proficiency in at least one core language, framework, or technology utilized by the team
Broad understanding of adjacent functional areas, enabling effective cross-functional collaboration
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences



Nice-to-Have Experience

Any experience with: C#; ASP.NET Core; Postgres; CI/CD; DevOps; Docker; Django; Figma; JavaScript/TypeScript; Python
Open-source contributions or personal projects showcasing your expertise
Proven experience contributing to high-performing organizations with a strong track record of success
Background in product-focused companies, demonstrating an understanding of delivering value to end-users
Experience working in dynamic startup environments, with a demonstrated ability to adapt and thrive in fast-paced settings
Familiarity with enterprise software companies, showcasing an understanding of complex systems and large-scale solutions
Educational background in computer science or equivalent professional experience in software engineering
A genuine passion for open-source software and a deep interest in empowering developers through innovative tools
