The Opportunity – Director of Engineering (Remote - USA / CANADA)

We are looking for a Director of Engineering who will be influential in driving our mission to build an outstanding technology company. As a Director of Engineering, you will leverage your established technical experience to ensure rigor in technical decisions that align with the priorities of the business. You will create high-performance teams with strong accountability and psychological safety to get to the best solutions for problems. Your strong customer focus lets you find where technical capabilities and customer needs can come together in simple, elegant solutions.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills allow you to drive initiatives within engineering and influence the broader organization effectively. You will also be responsible for building technical roadmaps with the team based on existing, challenging problem spaces rife with opportunity for growth and improvement.

At the most basic level, the Payables group at Wrapbook is responsible for payments against complex industry agreements - ensuring accuracy and speed - which is absolutely core and essential to our operations. This is an exciting time to join Payables with its unique ability to increase our growth in customer acquisition and subsequently market share. However, this growth also necessitates the ability to navigate through ambiguity and strong prioritization skills, providing a realistic view of the challenges and opportunities in this role.

What you'll do:

Build high quality, fault tolerant products that customers love

Foster an inclusive team environment where your team can do their best work

Empower your team to solve problems while providing context and guardrails as needed.

Work with product, UX, Data and other disciplines to discover the best solutions for our customers

Drive projects that have impact across engineering and the broader company

Grow the team both through internal development and external hiring

Advocate for quick iterative development accompanied by experimentation analysis

Ensure we have the right balance of work towards short term and long term goals

What you’ll have:

Over 3 years of engineering management and experience managing managers.

Technical expertise in one or more relevant areas, particularly the design, implementation and maintenance of web services and/or infrastructure

Proven ability to lead complex projects with multiple stakeholders

Experience helping teams through change in a growing company

Experience building and successfully growing development teams

A commitment and drive for quality, technical excellence and results

Experience working with Scrum or Agile team
